African horse sickness (AHS Vaccination is mandatory for horses, mules and donkeys in South Africa!

When do I vaccinate my Horse for AHS?

It’s recommended to administer the vaccine between June 1st and October 31st annually.

Here’s a more detailed look:

The OBP vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine. It contains two bottles, each with multiple virus strains, and requires two doses given at least 21 days apart.

AHS is a serious disease that can cause high, morbidity and mortality in equids. Vaccination helps protect horses from AHS, which is transmitted by biting insects (Midge/Muggies) , as explained in the brochure.

Dosage:

2ml subcutaneously (Under the skin)

The 4 core vaccines for horses:

✅Tetanus
✅Eastern & Western Equine Encephalomyelitis (“Sleeping sickness”)
✅West Nile Virus
✅Rabies.

Pregnant mares should be vaccinated with the above mentioned. ⬆️
